Privacy policy

This policy explains what information C.R.E.W. (Concerned Resource and Environmental Workers) collects through crewojai.org, how we use it, and the choices you have. C.R.E.W. is a 501(c)(3) conservation corps based in Ojai, California. EIN 77-0374392.

What we collect and why

When you visit any page. This website is hosted by Squarespace. Squarespace collects information about your browser, network, and device, the web page you visited before this one, your IP address, and how you move through the site (pages viewed, clicks, scrolling, time on page). We use this to understand which pages people use and to keep the site working. Squarespace's own privacy policy governs how Squarespace handles this data.

When you submit a form. The hire request form and the free program request forms collect the information each form asks for, such as your name, email address, phone number, property address, and any photos you upload. We use it to respond to you, schedule work, and keep a record of the request. The free program request forms also ask for your age range and your race or ethnicity. These answers help grantors distribute funds, and nothing that identifies you is reported with them. Photos uploaded with a hire request are used only to evaluate and schedule the work.

When you apply to the Field Corps. The Field Corps application on the Apply page is a JotForm form. JotForm collects and stores what you enter under JotForm's privacy policy. C.R.E.W. receives your responses and uses them to review your application and contact you about next steps.

When you donate. Donations are processed by Donorbox. Donorbox collects your name, email address, mailing address, donation amount, and payment details. Card and bank information is handled by Donorbox's payment processor (Stripe) and is never stored on this website or seen by C.R.E.W. staff. We receive your name, contact information, and donation record so we can send a receipt and thank you.

When you sign up for email. Your email address is added to our mailing list, which is kept in Squarespace and in a Google Sheet. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link.

Cookies

Squarespace sets cookies required for the site to work, such as crumb (prevents cross-site request forgery) and squarespace-announcement-bar (remembers that you closed the announcement bar). Squarespace also sets analytics cookies (ss_cid, ss_cvr, ss_cvt, ss_cvisit, ss_cpvisit) that identify unique visits. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some features may not work with cookies blocked.

Third parties that may receive your information

Some parts of this site load from other companies' servers. When they load, those companies may receive your IP address and information about your browser and device. They are: Squarespace (hosting and analytics), Adobe Fonts (typefaces), Google (fonts, and the Google Sheets and Google Drive files behind the Document Library and its tax returns), YouTube (the video on the Conservation Project Archive), OpenStreetMap (the map tiles, and the address lookup on the Services, Wood chipping, and Brush clearing pages, which sends the address you type to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service), Esri (the StoryMap), Studio Mesa and Squarewebsites (the template's styles and the map plugin), JotForm (the Field Corps application), Donorbox and Stripe (donations), and the content delivery networks that serve this site's scripts and stylesheets (jsDelivr, cdnjs, and jQuery). Each operates under its own privacy policy. We do not control what they collect.

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers named above, when required by law, or with your permission.

Donor privacy

We do not sell, rent, or trade donor names or contact information with other organizations. Information about your donation is handled with confidentiality to the extent provided by law. To be removed from our mailing list or to ask us not to publicly acknowledge your gift, email kat@thecrew.org.

Children

This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted information to us, email kat@thecrew.org and we will delete it.

Your choices

To review, correct, or delete the personal information you have given us, email kat@thecrew.org or write to P.O. Box 1532, Ojai, CA 93024. We will respond within 30 days. Donation records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.

Do Not Track

This website does not respond to browser Do Not Track signals. No common standard for honoring them exists yet.

Security

This site is served over HTTPS. Forms use spam protection. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. Material changes will also be noted in our next newsletter.
