“Picture day in this corps…
comes with a hard hat, fresh air, and a paycheck.”
The C.R.E.W. Field Corps
ROOTS
Good company since 1933
Join a conservation corps and you take on two jobs at once: doing the hard work the land needs, and learning how it’s done.
Crews have done both since the Civilian Conservation Corps began the model. California started its own corps in 1976, and The Corps Network formed in 1985 so local corps could share standards and training.
The Ojai Valley’s crew has been C.R.E.W. since 1991, a member of The Corps Network.
In that time, Field Corps crews have maintained hundreds of miles of front and backcountry trail, and in 2024 they protected 608 households with free brush clearing and chipping. C.R.E.W. has paid 2,000+ young people to learn that work, and our alumni include firefighters, foresters, and conservationists.
HALL OF FAME
This is the Field Corps
in action.
The frames run from the 1990s to this season. These are crew members doing the work C.R.E.W. exists to do. There is one way into next season’s shots. Join C.R.E.W.
This block is the Field Corps work photos as prints. It builds on the live page from the gallery block in this section, which is where photos are added, reordered, titled, and credited.
